I stepped slowly into the middle of the living room and began to…

DANCE. 🕺

“Daaaad…

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”
asked Mal. 🤔

“I’m dancing!”
I shouted back over the music as it began to build. 🙌

The Dancing Man from Byron Bay’s favourite…)

“Can I join in!?” 😃
Mal exclaimed as he watched me grooving to the beat.

“ME TOO!?”
Silas came running in from the next room, his face glowing with joy. 🏃‍♂️

Huh, why were they so excited? 🤨

Something had piqued their interest…

Could it be that our salsa dance lessons Larissa and I did last year really had lifted my dance game? 💃

Nah… 👎

Perhaps it was the good old Bag Raiders, just working their magic…

Hmm…

And then it clicked…💡

Could the reason for this
crazy,
impromptu,
silly,
dance party in our living room be…

Simply, because
I took the lead on something that I knew they would enjoy? 🤔

I certainly wasn’t trying to force the moment.

Unlike the time I told Mal that he was learning to ride a bike
without training wheels…
at age 2…

(You can probably guess how that went 😬)

But this…

This just happened.

And we ended up loving it!

It reminded me of one time when I was their age…

My brother and I were at a playground with my mum when
she started doing this funny-looking walk along the edge of the playground. 🚶‍♀️

“Muuuum….

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”
I asked curiously. 🤔

“The WOBBLY WALK!” She called back as she kept on going, wobbling about without a care in the world. 🐙

“...Can I join in!?” 😃

That’s probably one of my first memories of my mum.

I just wish that I had more memories from that time of her life. 🤗

that Mother’s Day isn’t easy for everyone…

I had a great mum, but
I know not everyone has had that experience.

And, like me, not everyone has their mum around anymore to share the joy of the day with. 💔

But if you do, I am genuinely so, SO happy for you! 😊

Soak it up, it’s priceless! 😍

Now days, I am blessed to enjoy celebrating Mother’s Day with my wife and kids, and my Mother-In-Law!
