The best parenting advice we ever received... 🙏😅🤪 (That actually works 😉)

Mother's Day - Child gifting flower to her mum.

When you become a parent, or even while you're still expecting your first, it's no secret that the parenting advice starts rolling in. 🤪

And while much of this is helpful (even if it's unsolicited 😉), some of it you put straight in the bin, right? 🙈

"Thank you Aunty May, but people don't dip dummies in whiskey anymore." 😆🤦‍♂️

BUT!!

Sometimes you come across that little piece of parenting advice that is just worth its weight in GOLD 🥇🏆👏

For us, it was this (which I recently saw again via @thechristmasfam):

"Someone once told us that babies have reset buttons.

They said that if they're having a rough day or a hard time, take them outside or put them in water - and we've yet to come across an instance where that hasn't worked for us."

😍🙏

We can vouch for this! With our almost 2 and almost 3 year olds, it truly has made the biggest difference - taking them outside or putting them in water. 👏☀🚿

I kid you not, our eldest would be happy in a bathtub for over an hour! 🤯

And because it works sooo well for us, I'd say our kids spend on average of 3-5 hours outside every day. 😆

If you're looking for some awesome inspiration on how to get your kids outside more, and why it is one of the best things we can ever do for our families, check out our friend Hannah @ouryearoutdoors. 👏🍃

She was a self-confessed indoorsy, book-loving homebody (nothing wrong with that!), but has been on an epic journey since having kids of discovering just how much the outdoors has improved her family life, as well as learning to absolutely love it herself. 😍👏

So be encouraged! If you'd rather curl up on the couch with a cup of tea than go trailing through mud puddles, but you've been feeling like the kids need to be outdoors more... Hannah is a great fit for you. 😉

As always in all things parenting, we're cheering you on! 🙌

Dad Jokes of the Week

I saw this guy chatting up a cheetah. I thought, "he's trying to pull a fast one!"

🗣🐯😅

"What are you doing dad?"
Dad (standing on one leg at ATM):
"I'm checking my balance..."

Why was the paediatrician always losing his temper?
He had little patience.
