Last year
for Mother’s Day
we introduced a product that some people
absolutely LOVED
and RAVED about…
At the same time, it made some people MAD!
(And being one of our lower-cost products, at only $44, I can tell you it wasn’t due to the price!)
It made some people SO MAD
that they took time to leave agro comments on our social posts and ads.
Which of course meant they saw even more of our posts!
(funny how the algorithm works that way)
We even had people who purchased the product request to return it once they realised what it was… 🤔
The agro comments…
sure, internet trolls and keyboard warriors are real.
If I took everything these types of people said to heart,
I would have quit ecommerce a long, LONG time ago!
Lucky for me,
I HAVE TODDLERS…
which means I’m practised in the art of NOT giving a taking attacking comments to heart.
“I don’t like you, dad”,
“I don’t love you, dad”,
etc,
etc.
Yeah, they cut deep the first time around.
But once you realise statements like these are truly false, it’s easy to move through it:
“Love you too, Mal!” 😘
Larissa has even had:
“I want you to be eaten by a crocodile!”
Ouch!
Emotionally as well as physically. 🐊
Trolls will be trolls (and behave like toddlers)…
But the people returning the product was what confused me. 🤔
But it makes sense when I think about it.
If you haven’t got time
to read a product description…
You SURE WELL don’t have time
to make the most of this product!
(and good luck finding time to get to the Post Office to return it - many never did)
What product am I talking about?
Drum roll, please…

🥁🥁🥁🥁
“Not this again” I hear you say.

🥁🥁🥁
🥁🥁🥁🥁
Yes, this again 😉
🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
I’m talking about the Making Mum’s Day Diary.
WHAT, you haven’t heard about it?
Hmm…
Let me tell you about it then…
This diary is different from the rest
of our adventure diary range.
It’s a Step-By-Step Guidebook for dad and the kids on absolutely spoiling mum.
It’s single-use - in the sense you only fill it in over one day…
But chances are
you’ll look back over it hundreds of times across your lifetime!
(We sure do!)
And, it’s ONLY for special occasions.
Think Birthdays
and Mother’s Day.
“So why the controversy!?”
Yes, yes, I know you’ve got places to be Jeremy.Long story short: Some of the dads we were marketing to simply didn’t think this kind of appreciation of mums was warranted. 😳Or, maybe they were just jealous… 🤷♂️I wish I had some of the comments to show you but it looks like most of the shameful ones were permanently deleted - or removed by IG/FB.
